U.S. House of Representatives pass ARP, Preliminary guidance released

After the US House of Representatives passes the Senate version of the American Rescue Plan, Senators Cory Booker and Bob Menendez announce the breakdown of the more than $10 billion in direct, flexible, federal assistance to the State of New Jersey.  Per the official allocation released by the US Department of Treasury, Trenton will receive $72,913,998.  The preliminary guidance includes four broad areas of spending, including direct response to the public health emergency or its negative economic impacts, aid to essential workers, replacing lost or reduced revenues, and investments in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure.

President Biden signs ARP into law

President Joe Biden signs the American Rescue Plan into law.  The first disbursement of the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, as well as additional guidance on how to spend them, will be released within 60 days.

Day 60. The U.S. Department of Treasury releases the “Interim Final Rule.”

The US Department of Treasury releases the “Interim Final Rule,” a document detailing the permissible uses of the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.  Initially released as a 151-page document, the guidance has been updated periodically and will be open for an additional 60-day period for comment before the “Final Rule” is issued.

American Rescue Plan Update

City of Trenton will host a public webinar on Zoom Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. to give an update on Trenton's American Rescue Plan proposal, which now includes new spending items regarding youth engagement, public safety, and infrastructure following extensive City Council and community input from when the last plan was published in June.
